Season 4 premiered January 9, 2011. Filming began on 19 April 2010. Guest stars set to appear include Carla Gugino as Abby, Hank's lawyer; Zoë Kravitz as Becca's new friend, who gets her to join her all-girl band; Addison Timlin as Sasha Bingham, a movie star, and Rob Lowe as an actor wanting to play Hank's character in a movie. Zakk Wylde, singer and guitarist for Black Label Society and former guitarist for Ozzy Osbourne, has a cameo as a guitar shop employee in episode 2 entitled "Suicide Solution", title taken from an Ozzy Osbourne song. Michael Ealy is also reported to be playing a new love interest for Karen in four episodes, and Madeline Zima will return as Mia for four episodes.
The season opens with Hank just out of jail on bond after being arrested for assault, Charlie notifies him of his new celebrity status after word got out he penned "Fucking and Punching." Hank goes home where Karen disowns him, then attends a meeting to discuss the film adaptation of his book, where he accepts the job of adapting the script himself. In the next scene Charlie sets up a meeting between Hank and an actress named Sasha Bingham, (Addison Timlin) to discuss the movie, they sleep together and reenact the now infamous punch scene from the pilot episode. Immediately following Hank getting knocked unconscious by Sasha, there is a dream sequence where Hank's fears of losing his family are clearly pronounced. The episode ends with Hank being arrested for statutory rape, only moments after the assault charges against him are dropped. With nearly everyone but Charlie and Marcy disowning and hating Hank for what he has done, Hank is consumed with guilt and goes on a major alcohol binge laced with prescription drugs he swiped from Sasha's hotel room and passes out after writing a remorseful letter to Becca. Karen assumed he attempted suicide and for a moment accepts him back into her life until Becca deduces that Hank could never have tried to kill himself. When he confesses, Karen throws him out again. With nowhere else to go but a hotel room, Hank begins work on the screenplay for the "Fucking & Punching" movie. Mia testifies that the alleged rape was in fact consensual sex and that Hank was unaware of her age, motivating his lawyer to display confidence in the success of her case. Hank is photographed in bed with Mia and Sasha Bingham, whom he ran into at a party.
In June 2010, it was announced that Tommy Lee would guest-star in an episode as a singer.
On January 11, 2011 the Californication Season 4 Soundtrack was released[11] The soundtrack features music in Season Four of Californication. Exclusive tracks include Tommy Lee’s solo version of “Home Sweet Home” and three rock covers from the show’s on-screen band Queens of Dogtown. Califrnication Freeze Frame Season 4 Episode 5 - I have a sneak peek at this weeks episode of Showtimes Californication, an episode called Freeze Frame. However, before I dish about Freeze Frame let me first refresh your memory on last weeks epic episode. Hank, Stewart, and Charlie went to a billionaires (played by Fisher Stevens) house for a business meeting and chaos ensues. Charlie gets bit by and kills a monkey while having relations with a lady, and the billionaire dies whilst pleasing himself. While this is going on, Becca pratices with her new band The Queens of Dogtown and Karen comforts Marcy who finds out she is pregnant.
In Freeze Frame, Beccas band has their first gig at the legendary Whiskey A Go-Go. Charlie finally takes the plunge into the world of man-scaping however it doesnt exactly go as planned. Marcy comes to C
