With Russell poised for a takeover attempt of Bass Industries, Chuck makes one last-ditch effort to save his family’s company. Blair is given a challenging assignment at W Magazine with the promise of a possible promotion. Meanwhile, Serena struggles with her feelings for Ben.

Both Blair and Serena say they’re not celebrating this year. Blair is too busy with her promotion at W and Serena is.. .we have no idea why she’s bailing. The Thorpes are meeting with the Basses for brunch to talk business. Ben the jailbird is looking for a job. Dan offers to get him a cater waiter job.
W wants to follow an “It” girl on her Valentine’s Day and Blair suggests Rainawhatever. She’s going to be on for what, three more episodes? Blair really just wants to keep an eye on Chuck. Because she still loves him. Serena tells Raina that Blair still has feelings for Chuck. But don’t tell! That was a jerk move on Serena’s part. Reina then backs out on the “It” girl piece.
Chuck is renting a mansion and throwing a party. He wants to show that people will show up just because he’s there. Daddy Thorpe says he’ll wait and see and discuss. I wonder if Ben will be a cater waiter at the party? mmm. He lies and tells Serena (who is wearing a spectacularly ugly sequiny vest) that he’s tutoring.
Nate’s daddy (now working for Thorpe Industries) tells Chuck that Daddy Thorpe plans to break up Bass into tiny tiny pieces. No! No! says Chuck. Daddy Thorpe wouldn’t lie to me! Chuck finds out Lilly used to date Daddy Thorpe. Chuck tells Daddy Thorpe that he’ll go to the board and tell them Lilly didn’t fess up and announce her conflict of interest. Chuck has Lilly bounced.
Dan tries to sell an article to W, via Blair. They went to five movies together now. Blair finds out Raina backed out because Serena told her so (through a printed note which helpfully spelled Raina’s name.) Blair is not happy. Blair knows that Ben lied to Serena about the tutoring and sends Serena to the party.
Rufus is left at home with lovely flowers and Jacques Torres fondue and his one-line per episode.
It’s the party and it’s packed. Chuck makes pretty pretty room for Raina. Blair ambushes Serena and makes sure she sees Ben as a waiter. Why is this a big deal? Serena dated a guy from Brooklyn. Her mom is married to a has-been rock dude.
Lilly confronts Chuck. She says she’s just fought for his future and adopted him. Chuck says meh, so what. Lilly says he’ll pay. Raina is sad to see her boy being mean. Then Daddy Thorpe pulls out the rug and says take-backs! Neener-neener. He’s breaking up the company anyway.
Dan and Blair hide behind curtains while Chuck and Raina have it out. Blair finds out that Chuck actually cared for Raina. Now she’s sad. Everyone’s sad. This is the worst Valentine’s ever. Dan holds Blair’s hand in mutual sadness. Clearly I blocked that out last time, my mind refusing to accept any movement forward of the BlanD duo. Uggggh, now he’s sending her text messages.
Blair gave Dan’s article to someone at Vanity Fair. She says nice things. Can’t. Take. It. Now they’re watching the same movie together from separate apartments.
Nate’s daddy gets fired from Thorpe, but gives Chuck all the secret passwords to the system. Ben schmooches Serena at a bar. And then Damian the drug dealer meets Eric in a dark, dark alley and threatens to tell everyone that Lilly lied about Ben. Eric never gets the good chocolates in the box.
