OK, first off, if you've never gone glamping, do so immediately. Massages. Mani-pedis. It's divine.

Secondly, did you really think the girls would catch "A"? Come on. This was only the mid-season finale, kids!

Last night, Rosewood's fab four left us hanging — and Tweeting feverishly — as they came oh-so-close to nailing their texting tormentor while getting their pamper on at Camp Mona (the world's most inspired birthday-party theme ever). But since there's nothing small about the Pretty Little Liars drama, of course something big had to happen to throw them off-course. And boy did it ever. Lucy Hale wasn't lying when she told TV Guide Magazine that "something completely unexpected and out-of-the-blue" would go down before the hour was over. We just never imagined it would be Hanna being run down in those final seconds, or that it would be who it was behind the wheel (for those who still need to catch up, or aren't totally convinced that "A" is really the character we saw on that closing-scene video, we'll spare y'all the spoilers).

Oh, did we enjoy this one. The suspense. The reveals. The scares. That bit with Aria and Ezra in the car, with "A" outside scribbling on the window? Yeah, that was a lesson in not making out with your teacher in a dark playground. And Toby popping up in Emily's back seat? It's almost a good thing we're getting a hiatus to recover from all the twists. Let's just hope ABC Family doesn't make us wait too long for more episodes, or "A" won't be the only one acting all p.o.'d.

Pretty Little Liars has tackled storylines such as a student/teacher relationship, divorce and disapproving parents. For Shay Mitchell's Emily, high school is hard enough, and it's more difficult that "she doesn't know who she can talk to or who is going to support her" about her budding sexuality, Mitchell says.

Pretty Little Liars' Lucy Hale: Dark secrets can ruin lives

In recent episodes, Emily has tried to figure out what her romantic feelings for new friend Maya mean.

"She's not been labeled as a lesbian ... she's kind of in a grey area and I think teens go through that phase of who am I, what do I like?"

ABC Family orders additional episodes of Pretty Little Liars

The show (Tuesdays at 8/7c on ABC Family) focuses on a group of friends whose queen bee Alison (Sasha Pieterse) goes missing. The clique, which split after Alison disappeared, reunites a year later when the girls mysteriously begin receiving messages from someone named "A" who seems to know all their secrets.

Besides the overarching theme being the mystery of who "A" is, Mitchell adds that "the writers have a good pulse for what's happening in society these days so they're not shying away from it" in their secondary storylines.

The 23-year-old actress says the fun in playing Emily is that she's "very different from myself and it's cool to put myself in somebody else's shoes which aren't any kind of shoes I would have in my closet."

he PLLs are in full bullet-dodging mode in their personal lives, while inching ever closer to the mystery surrounding Alison, on last night’s episode of “Pretty Little Liars,” “The New Normal.”

Just like most episodes, this one starts out with all four PLLs together, trying to piece the clues together (this time, it’s the slip of paper Toby placed in Spencer’s book, containing a message in Braille that Jenna made). Well, Aria seems disinterested in the deciphering, concentrating on the cold war between herself and Hanna. A cold war that thaws as fast as you can say “ABC Family”, BTW. More on that in the appropriate section…

Spencer goes to Toby, ostensibly to tell him that the Braille message, translated as “BAD”, doesn’t make sense. But it’s not hard to see that Spencer’s feelings for Toby have intensified. He tells her that she’s misreading the symbols. Indeed, she figures out that the Braille symbols also work as numbers. The numbers are “214”. When she returns to Toby’s house, he tells her that the charges against him have been dropped, and he’s just waiting for a ride to the D.A.’s office to get his ankle bracelet removed. Spencer offers up a ride, and he takes it, standing up to a disapproving Jenna in the process.

Emily’s swim team troubles are endless, it seems. Paige’s father, a prominent school board member, storms into the cafeteria, demanding to see the swim coach over his daughter’s “unfair” treatment in losing her captaincy. Ezra diffuses the situation, but Emily and Paige just feel mortified. Emily decides not to tell her mother Pam about the incident, but she finds out about what happened. She shows up at the next swim meet and confronts Paige’s father, making it clear that if he messes with Emily, he’ll have hell to pay. Emily witnesses this, and is shocked that Pam has her back. Pam says that’s what mothers do (though making it clear that she still has trouble with her sexual preference). Emily barely gets over that shock when something even more shocking (to her, but not to me!) happens. Paige sneaks into Emily’s car and plants a juicy kiss on Em’s lips!

After giving us whiplash over how quickly she makes up with Hanna, Aria is sweating out the upcoming parent-teacher meetings, specifically the one between Ezra and Byron. When Byron finds out that Ella has been “asked out” by Ezra to an author’s lecture, he goes into the meeting with a jealousy chip on his shoulder and really rakes the young teacher over the coals. Aria frets over Ezra’s being freaked out, but then she inadvertently dodges a bullet when she tells her dad that Ella is just one of several faculty members extended the lecture invite. Just like that, Byron’s jealousy disappears, and he even tells Ezra he likes his writing!

Speaking of bullet dodging, Hanna is barely keeping Caleb’s presence a secret from her mother. But it turns out Ashley could be in the line of fire herself: a man named James Leland arrives in town, claiming to be Esther Potter’s long-lost relative, and wants access to his auntie’s safe deposit box. Ashley goes into stall mode, which includes agreeing to go out for drinks with the guy. The night of the “date”, Caleb just so happens to show up at the house, and notices that Leland, a supposed architect, signs a document with a cheap plastic pen. He tells Hanna that dude is a conman. Hanna tells her mom, who eventually calls Leland’s bluff, causing him to leave without the relatively meager cash in the box. All the while, Hanna finds herself more and more drawn to the bad boy. Caleb, in turn, decides he’s gonna stay in town a little while longer. Oh, the waiting is the hardest part!!

An episode isn’t complete without A rearing his/her ugly head (though on this show, we know A ain’t ugly, right?). A sends an exterminator over to Hanna’s, saying that someone called about an “infestation” in the basement, namely Caleb. And A places flowers on Mrs. Potter’s grave…that’s can’t be good, either.
